Halifax, July 1, 2025—The Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, issued the following statement on Canada Day:

  • The Honourable：对官员的正式尊称，用于部长、议员、法官等

  • Canada Day：每年7月1日，为庆祝加拿大建国（Confederation）的国家法定节日



加拿大国庆日是一个反思我们作为国家是谁的时刻，也是一个庆祝让我们团结在一起的人民、文化与价值观的日子。

Canada Day is a time to reflect on who we are as a country and to celebrate the people, cultures, and values that bring us together.



从东海岸到西海岸再到北海岸，加拿大人都可以满怀自豪地庆祝这一天，重申我们对民主、平等和建设更美好未来的共同承诺。

From coast to coast to coast, Canadians can mark this day with pride in our shared commitment to democracy, equality and building a better future.”

  • coast to coast to coast：强调加拿大三面临海——东、西、北（强调广袤国土）；为加拿大政要讲话常用短语。

  • mark this day with pride：自豪地纪念这一天，mark 作动词表示“庆祝/纪念”。

Canada’s story did not begin with Confederation when Canada became a country.

It means actively participating in our communities, embracing our diverse cultures, advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, and standing together with a common purpose.
